Yay, new Frank Turner album!
Aug. 2nd, 2009 | 07:19 pm
7th September brings a new Frank Turner album! YAY!
If you haven't heard his stuff, you should. If you have, then here's a new song from that album, which I have to admit I was keen on before I'd finished listening through the first time.

Tinned carrots?
Oct. 12th, 2008 | 01:58 pm
Whilst cooking last night I opened two tins of beans... and discovered that inside were carrots, rather than beans!
So has anyone got any good (culinary) ideas of things to do with tinned carrots?

So... thanks to everyone who was really nice to me late Saturday night, when I was unfortunately injured in a late fight. I don't remember exactly who was there, but thanks to Jam and Ben who I do remember :) I also have to be greatful to Will, who did battle with insurance companies, and drove me home.
Turns out I don't have a sprain. Mum took me to A&E, and an X-ray shows that I have broken my ankle. At least that explains why it hurt so much to walk on it!
At the moment i'm in a temporary cast. Tomorrow i'm off to hospital again, to find out whether I need surgery. Wish me luck everyone!

Aparently there is a one in three chance of the UK economy going into recession in the next two years.
BBC News
Considering what recession is likely to do to the Heritage sector... looks like i'll be working in Sainsburys when I graduate!

I finished the dreaded Roman Glass wikipedia article last week... and upon checking my User page this evening found I had recieved not only a compliment on the quality of my article, but a notification that a link to it appeared briefly on the Main page in the 'Did you know...' section. Success! Rather a relief... considering I had to attach my name to it...
If you need help sleeping, check it out ;) ... Roman glass...

That band-cover meme...
Jan. 25th, 2008 | 02:31 pm
Too tired to work between lectures... so did this instead...
1 - Go to wikipedia. Hit "random".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Ra ndom
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band. (I cheated here - mine was really dull, so I hit a few until I found something less lame).
2 - Go to Random quotations:
http://www.quotationspage.com/random.ph p3
Supposed to be a short one, but I liked mine.
3 - Go to flickr and click on "explore the last seven days"
http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesti ng/7days/
Supposed to pick the third picture, but it was lame. Seriously, who wants a fat baby's arse?

Quite pleasing, considering that this is the first time I have used GIMP to do anything. So I still kinda did something worthwhile...

Oh wow.

Oh. My. God.
Just discovered the most kick-arse music... seriously, have a look. (Folk/Punk/some-guy-and-a-guitar)
Frank Turner
Listen to 'The Ballad of me and my Friends' and 'Worse Things Happen at Sea'
This guy is totally awsome. I heard his most recent track as well on the radio, can't wait until his new album comes out in March.
Look - this post isn't even Friends-only, that's how much I like this stuff!

Pre-birthday present...
Nov. 1st, 2007 | 05:56 pm
Thanks to whomever sent me an Amazon e-voucher for my birthday, that was a lovely surprise!
I don't know if you meant to send it anonamously... but as I don't know who you are it makes saying thank you rather difficult! (Lets hope you're an LJ user hey?)
Thank you!

I am without phone at the moment (long story - Phones4U are rubbish, do not give them your buisness!).
Can someone with Adrian's phone number text him and tell him to email me? I've managed to misplace his LUL work email as well (I am win today :)!). Pretty please? *Edit - thank you people, much appreciated! :)*
In other news... I have spent all weekend making a paper-maiche dragon, he is amazing! I will post photographs hopefully when he is finished :) So much for university work ;-)

House hunting...
Sep. 27th, 2007 | 10:18 pm
I need to move to London asap. Does anyone have, or perhaps knows someone who has, a room to let?
I am pretty easy about the exact details (well, apart from the fact that ideally it does need to be less than 100pw). Preferably zones 1-3 though.
Any suggestions on places etc to look also gratefully received!

Still alive...
Nov. 21st, 2006 | 07:09 pm
music: Azam Ali - Breton Medley
Big apology to everyone whose phonecalls/texts/emails i've not responded to in the last one-two weeks. Life has been pretty hectic since starting work. I also appear to have some kinda sinus infection and a possibly related urge to spend a lot of time sleeping, which hasn't helped.
In a quick round up - the job is going well, I was right when I thought it would get dull quickly, but it's only for a year. Passing my test has been amazing and I am driving 1.5-2 hrs a day to work and back with no worries. Almost everything has been on hold whilst I've settled into my new job, but hopefully now things will return to some semblance of normality.
In other news... how did Christmas get so close already? So unfair! I think I've bought one present so far, and have the bits of several more scattered in my abomination of a bedroom. Guess I know what i'll be doing on thursday evening...
Hope everyone's well, sorry again for the lack of response these last few weeks!

For anyone who hasn't stumbled across this:
Weird Al
In particular... White and Nerdy which is pretty giggle-worthy, and from the new album.
In other news, this LJ has mostly become friends-only, so please go ahead and friend me :) Only, if it's not too obvious from your LJ Personal Info, please do comment and let me know who you are!

As a player, the Jackals event totally rocked. There were absolutely loads of brilliant bits, including but not limited to...
Getting to talk to people who I don't usually get the chance to at main events
Getting jumped by nasty combo-spectre-wraith things in the dark.
Making Esteban swear on Ra
Being rescued from marriage by Memphis and Dimitri
Lots of anxst to roleplay with
Being decayed, magebolted, harmed...decayed again...
Seeing a mummy climb out of a tiny box in the dunes under a full moon and watching half the linear party run screaming off into the darkness
Very almost being tricked into revealing stuff
Eating meals at sensible times of the day with my mates
Zekar meeting his mum for the first time.
Claiming Bestest Tree for the group :)
Frustrating things...
Crying in character (twice) and no one bloody noticing!
Not having much IC justification/closure/anything around Esteban's death
Mr Whippy and his bloody polearm.
Many thanks to everyone who made the event, especially the small but hard working crew/monsters. Once again the Jackals events are what reminds me why I do this stuff, and keep me playing the game.

Armourers and Vipers Event!
Sep. 4th, 2006 | 02:32 pm
So, the time has come for shameless plugging!
That's right, the Armourers' Guild and the Viper Faction are running a joint event! Non-viper Guild players are welcome just as much as non-guild Viper players, and anyone else who wants to join us in a 'high-risk/high-threat' trip to Italia!
In addition, monsters will be much needed and monstering will of course be free. Not only that, but we picked John Lees just so that it'll be easy for everyone to get to. Come on, you all know you want to :)
Fight Fire with Fire
John’s Lee Wood Campsite, Leicestershire
30th March – 1st April 2007
Flyers downloadable here: Armourers'Guild Forum.
